Don't laugh, but I can't seem to keep them here. A couple of wears and the heels give way.

    Can anyone recommend good ones?

I find the Sports Direct Karrimor boot socks good.

I’d go through socks fairly quick, the ones from sports direct wear fairly quick but they are cheap. Snickers socks look like the rest but they last ages and stay comfortable. The main criteria when I’m buying is I buy plenty of identical pairs in the one go so there’s no matching them.

Well, the CAT work socks are crap. The latest ones I've tested and they failed big time.

My biggest problem with socks was them slipping down inside wellingtons. For years back I'm wearing football socks. Once you put them on, they never move. They are generally a fairly heavy sock too, so fine for work socks and last very well. I used to get O'Neills ones in the local sports shops, but the quality declined a number of years ago, so lately I'm getting these ones from amazon.

Dunnes Stores have a good quality 1 with either a red or a yellow stripe.

    Mostly smaller sizes though.

Patsy, do you have sole inserts in your work boots. They will cushion your foot and prevent is moving in your boot. I presume that the heel is getting thread bear/worn because your foot is moving/slipping.

Ya, that's part of it alright. I picked up a pack of Dunnes work socks yesterday and forgot to get the inserts.
