I do know of someone who had help at night, for medical reasons (her medical reasons) which I won't go into here.

Equally, no harm with a sleep consultant if you want one.I know I have mentioned Lucy Wolfe here before, she is highly recommended and what I have read of her advice is very sound.
Others posters might have other suggestions.I could give suggestions about gently getting a routine going for a 7 week old, but I admit twins might take more coordination.

Congratulations! I had twins three years ago. The first few months are full on! I hope you have good support around you. I breastfed so never felt a night nurse would be of much use but my husband took over from 9pm -2am. I think it was around 7-8 weeks that they settled a bit more at night. I personally wouldn’t advise a sleep consultant especially when they are so young.

    Hi, congrats on the twins!

I have 3 and a half year old twins. fwiw, this is what we did.

I went to bed at 9pm and slept until 3(waking once to pump) and then my husband slept from 3 to 8.30. The the following night we would swap.

It meant that we were both guaranteed 5 hours sleep, maybe more in between feeds/changing in the hours when we were "on duty"

Then 1 night a week (usually weds) we got a night nurse in. We used dream team nannies in Cork city and they were amazing. Nurse came to the house from 10pm to 7am. Kept the twins downstairs with her overnight so we could both get a full night's sleep. It was (iirc) €100 a night so it was expensive, but I honestly believe it saved my sanity!

We worked that system for about 14 weeks and then they started sleeping through the night. There are a lot of twins in my family and family lore says that twins sleep through the night sooner than singletons!

I haven't used Lucy Wolfe but 2 friends of mine have with great success, so if you are looking for sleep training she would seem a good bet. At 7 weeks though it is probably more about survival than training!

Good luck and feel free to ask me anything either here or by pm.

You could try a Post Partum Doula - DoulaCare Ireland do a couple of night time packages. They'll bring the babies to you for feeds, sit up with you and help you with breastfeeding etc and they do a bit of meal prep as well during the night for the following day.
