Could someone please explain why the amount I'm paying in USC keeps changing every week. For example, my weekly pay has been identical the past three weeks however my USC has increased week on week from 19.36 to 23.64 to 31.86.

    Thanks

We’re you working or getting paid since the start of the year? If you weren’t you using up unused allowances but they are running out now.

Also are you on a net pay arrangement with your employer?

Has your weekly gross pay been the same, has your net pay decreased?
Do you have revenue MyAccount set up if so you can see if any new RPN (revenue payroll notifications)have issued which might explain the issue.

Gross pay has remained the same, net pay has reduced as a result of USC deduction increasing, all other tax deductions have remained the same

Does your payslip say cumulative or week 1

There's a weekly number on each of my slips, I can see what I paid in USC each pay day and then in total for the year

If usc is increasing but both gross pay and other deductions have not changed it seems odd. Did you check MyAccount to see if there was a new cert issued for you which might explain it. A change from cumulative to week1 coupled with an alteration in usc thresholds might also cause deduction changes but really the only way to get more information is to check MyAccount or ring Revenue or ask your payroll department if they got a new instruction (RPN) for you.

Usc can also change if someone had previously a full medical card and then loses it as full mc holders don’t pay higher rates of usc only the lower 2 rates.

Due to a change in the minimum wage, the USC thresholds changed on 1 Feb which might account for some variation (only a tiny variation though). I've a USC calculator spreadsheet uploaded here which I believe to be correct.
