    Hi,
I'm spending the weekend in Munich, I will go to the Deutsches Museum and check out the horology section. Other than that I know there are a few rolex dealers about the town, is there a good second hand watch shop I should visit?

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Would you do me a favour? If you happen to spot any Rolex Explorer 214270, would you let me know - unless you're picking it up for yourself of course :p

I will do, I had thought of you. enjoyed the Aha video.
the 214270 is one of the ones I hope to fondle, along with an 116900, 114060 and a current milgaus.

I was wearing fitzgeme's Milgauss last night :)

Very nice indeed, a bit more jazz to it than the Explorers. I think I've fallen for the cleaner looks of the Explorer though.

My savings fund is coming along nicely, it'll be the summer before I can splurge on a more expensive watch, probably wait for my birthday in June. I'm also planning the summer holiday, the state's is an option so I'm wondering if there is any advantage in purchasing a Rolex there. I saw an 114060 2019 model offered for 7800 GBP from the UK. I wonder if RRP from an AD will be an option this year. Talks of the bubble deflating, we'll see.

A beautiful city - Enjoy! A couple of Sinn dealers in the vicinity of Karlsplatz / Mariensplatz area. They carry other marques too. Worth checking out. Google Maps will give you exact locations as it's been a while since I had time to browse watches there.

So I did loads of window shopping, there are lots of watch shops in Munich city centre. There are dealers for pretty much every brand I could think of, IWC even have a store there.
I did go to one pre owned shop called Uhrenworld to take a look at a rolex explorer, lovely piece serviced and polished for €6380.
I also went to the horology section of the Deutsche Museum where they have some great exhibits in including wristwatches .

That's above the retail price for a brand new one. Which is pretty crazy as AD allow anyone onto the waiting list for an Explorer and they expect the waiting time not to be that long (although they can't obviously guarantee anything). I'd say there's a bubble here about to burst. Maybe not with all Rolex watches, but most likely with the ones that are not the most in demand

I'll either hold on for a well under €5k 214270 Explorer or I'll go onto the waiting list...

I didn't think that watch was good value at that price. In general whilst there is a world of choice in munich, all the prices seemed a little steep.

defo would not pay over list but the other options require a lot of patience.

I prefer the new (post 2015) model with the lume on 3, 6, 9

Then like you say there's the name on the card and the buying a brand new Rolex experience :)

That asking price of €6,250 for the older model second hand on adverts is in dreamer land imho. €4,700 is the very max I would spend. RRP for a brand new one is €6,250 and the waiting list is open for all and not forever / impossible on this watch.
