Flooring fitted with wrong underlay

I had new flooring supplied and fitted to a large area and paid extra for superior quality underlay. Quite by accident I have decovered that a cheaper and inferior underlay was fitted. Supplier has offered to refund the difference. I believe he should offer to refit the floor with the correct underlay as it is his mistake. Am I right or not?

Insist that the correct underlay is fitted....... how does he achieve this ? By taking up the floor and putting it back down again, but thats not your concern.

I would question though do you really fancy someone disgruntled taking off skirting and taking up a brand new floor , they may not be as careful as the first time they put it down.

Get the difference back at least and move on with your life.

Underlay for flooring seems much the same in my experience, despite price difference, unlike for carpet.

Good point Outkast. The supplier is being very unhelpful and has been quite nasty. Thinking of investigating the small claims court. Don't want to accept his f**-off attitude to me.

The difference? refund the cost of the underlay you paid for and walk away would be my suggestion. He supplies the cheaper stuff fitted as an apology for (un)intentionally trying to pull a fast one.

As mentioned I wouldn't have someone take up and replace an existing floor, in addition to potential damage to skirting boards there is a likelyhood of damaging the click system between the boards especially on the lengths.

Just curious. how did you find out a cheaper underlay was used?

We had to lift some boards to solve a plumbing issue.
