This is doing the rounds around where I am from.

Basically kids/teenagers are organising fights and getting up to no good.
You've the usual mixed response about it.

When I was I secondary school there was the odd fight. Youd receive a text about it sometimes in the morning and it happened at lunch time. Generally just two guys tapping off one another and not much ever ever happend.
More people got injured if the teachers showed up and about 200 teenagers would end up running off and people would fall.
Some of it may have been recorded on a crappy phone.

Have organised fights been around for a good while or are they a new thing?

I had a teacher from Fermoy and he told us there was organised school fights in the 1980's.

    We you ever at one?

Always been a thing, but before cameras on phones and instant communication it wouldn't have gotten out of a small circle of those involved

Same thing when I was young, it's just all streamed now instead of having your buddy send it to you over IR or BT

The first rule is you don't talk about it.

Gets them outside and off the computer games, can't be all that bad.

I remember a couple of fights after school around 1979.
These were primary school children, in P7 I'd guess.

The word would go round that Boy A was going to fight Boy B, and everyone would hang around after school.
Back in those days most of us walked home, so there wasn't a pile of parents in cars to pick us up.

I still remember one fight which always stuck with me. A guy who was a renowned good fighter had tired out another guy so much he was down on all fours.
Guy took a run at him and kicked him under the chin like his head was a football he was trying to kick into orbit.
    Shocking.

So yes, I guess fights have always been around among young 'uns.

Had a few myself when I was in 1st Year. That was in the early 2000s. "Church after school" was all it took. Nobody had camera phones yet, and nobody knew how to throw a decent punch anyway. Somebody always called "Sketch" after a few seconds and that'd be the end of it.

    "I'll fight you after school".

    "Alright then".
