I assume you mean saorview. Its the only thing that could possibly work. After that its still impossible to say with no other info. Have you tried something else with an indoor aerial? Like a saorview TV or some other box? The question really is is your the signal strong enough in hour house/location? If it works in principle then a human box capable of saorview will work too (probably). Without knowing that nobody will be able to tell.

In any case. An indoor aerial question is better off in the Terrestrial subforum. Terrestrial really means saorview and such stuff. Satellite means satellite (dish) and that's not an indoor aerial.

One issue with the Humax terrestrial box is the Saorview channels are stored at random in the 800s as found because the box is locked to the UK's Freeview service with no Ireland region setting.

Which Humax box are you looking at, the terrestrial box(aerial) has 1 connection, the satellite box has 2 but would be connected to a dish.

Satellite, dish needed, you won't get Saorview channels but they can generally be got through a reasonably new TV. There is a new box due, but having used a Humax for 5 years, I have no complaints.

Satellite dishes require line of sight to the satellite orbiting the earth so indoor not possible. Also these Freesat satellite receivers do the UK channels only, no Irish Saorview channels.

As this is posted in the satellite section then the reference to an aerial is rather odd ..... or are you referring to a satellite dish as an aerial?

To receive UK channels you need a Satellite dish and suitable satellite receiver.
To be able to record one channel while watching another, you must have two tuners.

To receive Irish channels (Saorview) you need an aerial and a suitable receiver.
To be certain of being able to watch one channel and record another you need two tuners (could be one in receiver and other in TV).

Modern TVs will likely have a suitable terrestrial tuner and maybe even a satellite tuner, and there are some separate receivers which have two Satellite tuners and one Terrestrial tuner, which all combined would provide all you need.

Regarding an indoor aerial for reception of Saorview channels ....... yes it could work IF the signal is strong enough where it is placed.
For most people an indoor aerial is not suitable, and an external aerial is fitted along with the satellite dish.

The new receiver is a satellite receiver, what's often referred to as an aerial, ie indoor or roof, won't work, a dish will be needed.
