    It is coming from the work that Bord Gais are doing on the corner of O'Curry Street and the Dock Road. Dont know the reason for it however

    They're stabilising the soil at the old gasworks after removing decades of coal tar contamination.
    • The soil within the site is excavated up to a depth of approximately 3 metres and any remaining underground tanks removed;
    • The soil is screened and concrete crushed and then binders are mixed into the excavated soil/crushed material producing a stabilised material;
    • This stabilised material is then carefully backfilled in the site, resulting in a solid finish at similar levels to the site prior to this stage.
    Work is due to be finished by April. https://www.gasnetworks.ie/corporate/company/our-network/projects/current-and-planned/limerick-gasworks-remedia/

    The use of an odour control system, in the form of a mist, may be noticeable along the perimeter of the site over the next few months, January to April 2020. This mist is water-based and uses an odour neutralising additive, which is biodegradable, to assist in minimising odours. Neither this mist, nor any odours associated with the site, are harmful to health.

    This control system isnt working but good to know the odour isnt harmful to health
