Tusla and FOI requests

Are Tusla obliged under FOI to provide any information they have about a person ?

Further, would the parent of children of interest to Tusla have a right to request any information they have about those children including reports or decisions made by Tusla regarding those children ?

Lastly, if either of the above are affirmative how does one go about requesting that information ?

    Thanks

    Ken

Make request. Make an internal appeal if not happy. If stiill not happy appeal to foi commissioner .

If it's personal information it's a data access request not foi.

It can be both. So 2 avenues of appeal if necessary.

Thanks all. Was informed by a person in Tusla that there's no way to get info from them, that they were exempt from it.

    Cheers

Is it info about you personally?

Not for me personally but the person making the request was told this.
She is looking for any information or reports about her and her children that Tusla have on file.

There may be certain information that is exempt.

There may be certain information that is exempt.

My experience of these queries is that a parent/parents wants to know specifically who submitted a complaint/report to TUSLA about their family.
    That information won’t be forthcoming.

you should never pay any attention to what these people tell you especially if it is by phone. Phone means they do not want to put something in writing. They are not exempt from foi. They even have a form

The only way to find out if your request succeeds is to make the request/appeal it and then go to the infomation commissioner if not happy
