    The jist

Of 2,586 tests checked, 2.5% were deemed unacceptable.

These included a failure to detect:

    Damaged tyres
    Defective lamps
    Damaged brake lines.
Presence of moisture or water in light units
    Damaged suspension springs
    Corrosion
    Incorrect recording of odometer

37 tests were reversed as a result of either failure items being omitted or included in error.

The pass rate was near identical to 2017.

Headlights were the most common fail item (seriously just sort your lights before).

Suspension, steering, brakes and tyres were the most common fails after headlights.

Two staff were dismissed during 2018 for breaching the company’s code of ethics introduced to uphold the integrity of the NCT testing system.

You don't have to use your imagination much to guess what got them sacked.
