    Hi All

Just curious, I know there is a 6 month period in which a Guard must make a complaint to the District Court of the offence being committed. But im wondering does that mean there is unlimited time for you to get a Summons in the Post?
Ie: I was stopped 2 years ago for No NCT :o. The guard took all my details and its been niggling at me since. Is it possible for people to get a Summons in the post years after the event. Or if you have not gotten a summons in say 12 months its probably been forgotten or slipped through the system:confused:
 Every few weeks it will pop into my head and give me anxiety thinking if i do get summonsed my insurance will go up:rolleyes:

    Thanks Peppa

It is possible. The summons may have been applied for and there was a difficulty with service in which case the summons could be renewed. It is better to comply with the road traffic laws and have you vehicle certified to be safe on the road.

You have a right to a speedy trial. Two years seems excessive.

Was the last sentence really necessary? Or did you actually want to come across as a bit of an arse?

There is precedent to throw out cases where there has been delays of the magnitude of 2 years plus.

    Justice delayed is justice denied.

Seems to me he intentionally wanted to be an arse about you unintentionally being an arse.

There’s nothing wrong with being an arse, if you know you’re being an arse.

I would have thought so seems quite unfair to have a summons hanging over you for years. What if you have anxiety disorder etc certainly wouldnt help pondering years if you had to go to court ;)
