So my brother's Santa Fe is potentially at end of life..

What are the decent reliable 4 x 4s for working use (farm) these days.

Still a case of just getting the best condition Landcruiser that can be got for whatever the budget is??????.

Or is there an alternative I can't think off right now????.

I know I say farm but mostly it's not hardcore work - the Santa Fe has actually done okay.

Not sure what the exact budget is yet.

    Commercial or private?

You just need a single question mark to denote a question.

Nissan X-trail for heavy lifting, or in your case maybe just a Subaur Forester would do.

    Thank you.

I think it's going to be another roll of the dice with a cheap Hyundai with AWD again.

    It's what he likes unfortunately.

Modern vehicles are a bit of a risk no matter what direction one goes in.

06-08 Tuscon could be a decent option. 140bhp 6 speed and most commercial ones are awd. Slightly more complex than the older sante fé but pretty reliable all the same.

Avoid the early 07-09 2.2 crdi sante fé they're a pig of a thing.
