I'm on the lookout for a car upgrade and am finding my head is fried hearing that some car versions are good and others are poor.

For example, Im looking at a Audi A4 upwards, VW Golf, Skoda Octavia, Opel Astra and Ford Focus ST, Toyota CHR to name a few.
Between GTI, GTD, S line etc etc I haven't a clue what is good and what is not.

I'm after a petrol car and I've heard that some versions suit petrol, while others don't.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

I can realistically only give advice on what I've owned from that list. I've had a few Golf Gti's and a Ford Focus ST. I'd consider them very good, reliable cars that perform excellently. They're well developed now and aren't putting out insane BHP... all the components seem to handle the power and performance very well.

Hope you get a nice upgrade that you're happy with!! Good hunting!

Cheers John. The Audi seems very expensive. Are you really only paying extra for the name?

I can't say for sure. They're certainly a sought after marque, a must have for some people. I suspect badge pride has a lot to do with it. I'd take a Golf Gti over an A4!

*No offence to the Audilicious owners!

Haha I get ya. Would you have any tips for someone buying a petrol Golf GTI or Ford Focus? Are certain engine sizes or years better?

No, not at this stage, but this thread is full of helpful enthusiasts, owners and experts. They're putting up interesting links to cars for sale too.
