Hi all, looking for some advice. I've a family of 7 (3 adults, 2 teens, and 2 smaller kids). Kids are aged 6 and 11.

We're looking for something a bit different for this year's summer holiday. Have been looking at places like Denmark, Norway and Sweden but open to suggestions. We're looking at going in late July/August. Really just want something that would suit everyone. Bit of fun for the kids, sightseeing, bars and restaurants.

I heard some good things about Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen for kids. Anyone been?

Has anyone any advice/experience with those countries?

Forget about Norway, unless you win the lotto in the meantime.

Denmark is also extremely expensive for eating out.

I've spent nights eating out in Copenhagen prior to a cruise, it's not cheap but nothing like Norway.

Gothenburg in Sweden has a big theme park (Liseberg). The city itself has a bit to do in too. As others have said it’s expensive to eat and drink but Liseberg is a great theme park

Tivoli Gardens gets great reviews too

What you could do is fly into Copenhagen. Have a couple of nights there. Get the train to Gothenburg. Another couple of nights and then fly home from there. Or you could go on to Stockholm. Play around with price of flights and trains to see what suits you

Romania is lovely, we had a great skiing holiday there, the mountains and villages so beautiful...sopot I thought very expensive, especially accommodation, if you have a car further out much cheaper.

A few years ago, we went to a campsite in Finland, called Salonsaaren Lomakyla, about 200 km north of Helsinki, basic accommodation in wooden lakeside huts, great spot for kids, bikes, and rowboats, available foc, not many restaurants locally, so self-catering, BBQ most nights , very well stocked local supermarkets, sauna every night, swimming in the lake at midnight, still daylight, prices in Finland same as here and they use the Euro.
