Looking at these as a next car 2010 -2012, just wondering re reliability etc. Sort of thought VW were OK but maybe that's an outdated view. Have googled and found some problems, but given the engine is so common perhaps not surprising!

Mainly used to shuttle two kids etc around locally. Once or twice a month will be used for a reasonable motorway run 40/50km. Once or twice a year will get a monster motorway run, Spain and back.

Occasional use of 7 seats is what is driving the choice. Size compared to S Max for example is a factor.

But would value reliability over all else. Any comments from the well informed here?

I would be inclined to not bother with that vintage of 1.6 TDI.

Get an early 2008 or older Corolla Verso 1.6 petrol instead. Your driving doesn’t warrant buying a diesel.

This is a special edition one they did for a few months with added spec, you’ll know these ones as they have black seats as opposed to the green/blue seats they normally have, they got climate control, armrests, sensors, privacy glass etc

This one is on the old tax system (€514), a lot are on the €750 emissions tax.

These have a better seating system than the Touran, massively reliable, no timing belt to worry about, plus they have lots of safety kit.

Thanks, have been doing a bit more reading, and this sounds like good advice.
