VW CC front tyre wear

My 2013 VW CC seems to be fond of wearing through front tyres. The strange thing is that the wear is mostly though the centre channels of both front tyres. Centre channels are less than 2mm above spec and about 5mm spec on the outer channels on either side after approx 12,000 miles, mainly motorway at 120-130km/h.

The confusing thing is that I run them around 32psi while the recommended pressure is 37psi. I understand that the likely cause would be too much pressure in the tyres but this is not the case. Since the outer channels are still in good nick I would not think this is an alignment issue.

Tyres are Goodyear eagle asymmetric 3s 235/40/18, hoping to get the issue sorted before I put on a new set of asymmetric 5s. The same issue occurred on the set of Continentals that were on it beforehand.

    Anybody experienced this?

Are you using a proper pressure gauge or just rely on the ones at petrol stations?
At filling stations, I set mine to 32psi. When I do a proper check on cold tyres the following morning, they were all between 37-39.5psi.

i had same issue as Stonedraider
i was using a home pump gauge reading 31 psi ,
but got a better one and reading 40 psi when i cold checked

this over pumping would cause center wearing .

once i figured it out the issue went away

mainly the wear and the hard ride caused me to realise the tyre pressures must be off .

I've got a fairly decent gauge at home. I just checked again and they're both 28 and 29 psi. I'm fairly sure this isn't far off as you can see the front tyres deform if the car is parked facing downhill.

Yeah there's definitely an issue with VW cupping tyres. At the moment my rears are due a change due to the cupping on the inside of them. I will be putting new tyres on the front and rotating the nearly worn fronts to the rear.

I still see nothing anywhere about the fronts wearing down straight down the middle though.
