Hoping to head away for holidays here. We've three kids, would love somewhere very close to a beach but yet may have shop close by too. Any suggestions of best places to look at to stay? Thanks

Are you planning on self catering or booking a hotel ?

There are now only 3 shops left West of Dingle in Bally Ferriter, Ventry and Ard a Bhothar (Paidi O Se's) Ventry or Paidi O Se's would be closest to a beach but there is a nice beach Beal Ban within 1.5 mile of Bally Ferriter. No fears of over crowding on any of these beaches.

Would you consider Rossbeigh, on the Iveragh Peninsula? It's directly south of the Dingle Peninsula. It's a lovely big beach that's never overcrowded. There's a pub, playground and (very clean) public toilets at the beach, and often an ice cream van on sunny days. There's lots of self catering in the area - look on Airbnb for a place called Rossbeigh Beach Cottage. It's within walking distance of the beach and has plenty of room for a family. I've stayed there a few times.

The town of Glenbeigh is less than 2km away and has a decent Centra, petrol station, takeaway, plus a few pubs and restaurants. There's also a horse riding centre nearby.
