Received a FCN for taking a left turn 5 minutes before it was allowed in South Dublin.

My own mistake as I’m not used to being in that area before 10am.

Didn’t argue, was pleasant and the Garda told me I wasn’t getting any points just a 60 euro fine.

Told me he was telling everyone the same that morning and most people were very relieved to hear no points would apply as I was.

He was friendly enough and I can’t complain.

FCN arrived in the post a few weeks later and indicated no points for this offence only 60 euro fine.

Paid it and received my receipt from the Garda processing office few days later.

Then a few days later a RSA letter arrived stating I’m getting 1 point.

Anyone had this happen? would seem I didn’t receive due process and opportunity to make a decision to contend the points as I was not made aware I would be receiving any.
