s it just me or are the Vodafone ireland customer service staff the pushiest going?

2 weeks ago vodafone customer care rang me and I told them I couldnt talk so they rang me yesterday and as soon as I answered they started going into the security routine questioning. A very invasive start to a call they were initiating not me.

The female employee then started telling me they had great broadband and told me that my house was able to receive it. She asked me which one I was interested in and also told me there would be small monthly discount on my mobile bill. She then said I had 2 months until the voucher expired so I had to organise the install before then.

I then told her I was actually thinking if cancelling my mobile plan as spotify is now gone from the deal and its pricey enough.

Her response was that the broadband was only 40 per month and cheaper than my current supplier. She clearly wasnt listening.

I then told her I never asked or indicated taht i wanted broadband and that i was on the other end of the scale. That i am considering leaving vodafone for good. She again brought up the broadband process and I then had to tell her that I'm currently contracted for another 4 months or so.

She then had zero interest in me. She asked me if my land line number was such and such to which I replied it hasnt been for a long long time and if she could delete said number. She told me to ring 1907 to do so. This is unbelievable, this was customer care telling me to ring customer care about an issue!!!

I told this woman that I want to leave Vodafone and when She couldnt reel her catch in she couldnt wait to get rid of me

Whatever false allegiance I had to Vodafone is now gone. I cannot wait to leave this company if this is the level of treatment 'customer care' give.

Customer care based in god knows what country so far removed from actual people or customers

Sounds more like a sales call. Customer Service generally don't make outbound calls unless you have asked them to.

That's so daft. Literally anyone could call you, claim to be from Vodafone (or your bank, or your doctor), ask you for answers to security questions and thereby get information they need for identity theft.

I had my bank call me once and start asking security questions. I said "dude, you called me - I'm not the one who has to prove my bona fides." In fairness he immediately acknowledged this and asked me to call back to restart the process.

The worst part of companies calling customers and asking them security questions is the fact that they're training them to accept it as normal. It's a practice that needs to be killed with fire.

Vodafone have gone downhill - I’d rank them bottom of the pile, way behind Eir at this stage.

They’re gone target mad - sales as you found out are pushy as hell until they’ve decided they’re not going to get a bite and you’re instantly ditched.

Customer support is all about Net Promoter Score which is why its impossible to get anything escalated by support and you get the “wait 24-48 hours and it will be fixed” spiel because then it won’t reflect on that support agent when you do inevitably have to get back in contact again.

Even when you do have to get in touch - often you can’t ring up and hold to speak to someone anymore. Instead you have to schedule a callback and I’ve seen regular reports both on here and elsewhere of being unable to schedule a callback any sooner than a week away.
