Cannot bleed oil burner

Hi all. I was away on holiday and the kerosene ran out. I got a delivery but the system is airlocked and I can't seem to clear it.
Is it bad for the system to keep trying or should I persevere and it will eventually kick in? TIA

No, do not just keep pressing the reset button as it can damage the pump for one thing.
just do a search above with "bleeding oil burner" and you will get plenty of posts there to assist you.

You need to release the nut holding the flexi pipe onto the boiler.

Had exactly that happen to our new home as heating was set to come on as house was empty a good few months.

You will need to literally suck the air if nothing comes out when you un tighten it.

How much oil did you get? Have you a decent spanner to open the joint where the oil pipe enters the pump, you just need to slacken it about a full turn until kero runs out steadily.

Never ever suck oil.
Undo bleed nut and run burner till you get a good uninturpided flow. If nothing comes, blow back up the oil line and release, never suck, unless your that way inclined.

I might just get a plumber...I really don't want to mess it up. I was shown how to bleed it before but I wouldn't like to go opening pipes etc.

Preferably an oil service man / woman or at least one that knows how to service / bleed.

Oddly enough kerosene is an excellent disinfectant!!
Maybe not do good as mouthwash tho!!

Obviously wouldn't be doing it all the time but nothing else worked for me and I had one spanner and nothing else.

Everything I had was 2 counties over.

Thanks for all the replies.

Plumber came (a friend) and fixed it for now. The air lock was in that pipe going into the boiler but then a little switch kept tripping so he said the housing (?) needs to be changed. Small job he says.

You’ve probably knackered the pump from running it dry...
