I've looked for information on this but cannot find a solid answer. Once the UK goes in to transition period does this mean that we can still purchase as normal from UK retailers online until the period ends?
    Thanks

Probably no one knows until an exit agreement is in place.

My take on Brexit is that nothing changes until it changes. I think online purchases for Irish consumers is probably low on the list of things they are trying to sort out, but I see nothing to suggest that anything will change immediately.

That's reassuring to know. Looking to buy a couch from UK but hesitant as won't be delivered for 6 weeks and worried we'll get landed with extra VAT/import duties etc. It does look like most of the original articles related to a hard brexit scenario but may just hang on the 2 weeks and see the lay of the land then before ordering.

The Brits have set the end of 2020 as their deadline for a trade deal. Brexit negotiations always go to the wire and beyond so it is highly unlikely that we will see the introduction of VAT/import duties before 2021.
