Breastfeeding question

Hello, I'm exclusively breastfeeding and my little one is 2 months old. Next month I have a big night out planned and I've been expressing and storing my breast milk and getting baby used to the bottle in preparation for it.

My question is: when I'm on my night out, having a few drinks, if my breasts become full what should I do? I plan to be out from about 5pm to 12pm. Will hand expressing in the bathroom be sufficient or would I need to bring along my hand pump in my handbag?? Thanks!

Given your baby is so young and you would be feeding regularly I’d bring a pump to be on the safe side ! Enjoy your night out 😊

I would definitely bring your pump with you. Just in case you get uncomfortable. It can be quite painful when your boobs get full and it would be horrible if that ruined your night out. Also I would give baby a good feed beforehand.
Also if you are having a few drinks it is still ok to feed baby after. Once you are not too tipsy to hold them safely.
    Enjoy your night!!!

No harm to bring the pump so you can pump and dump if needs be rather than be uncomfortable.

Would agree, I used to keep the Avent manual pump in my bag for things like that.

Honestly I'd bring your pump and ask if you can pump somewhere where you're going. I did this a lot and you'd be surprised at how accommodating places are. I went to the Bon Jovi concert & they gave me a lovely comfy spot in the first aid hut to pump & gave me water. I also did it in a bar/restaurant at my sister's 40th.
There's no need to pump and dump if you're not getting too drunk either. The best advice I got around drinks was if you can find the baby you can feed the baby! i.e. if you're able to competently get a baby to latch then you're not drunk enough for it to transfer.

Bring your pump and check it works beforehand. Mine is a plug in type and I assumed it would be grand with the batteries but I could not get it working. By the time I got back to baby about 7 hours later I was ready to explode! Also, make sure to use breast pads if you don't normally. I don't generally need them if I feed normally, but that day they seriously saved me from leaking.

    Enjoy your night out!
