Value my car... Low mileage 141 Audi A6 S Line Black Edition

I'll probably move this on in next couple of months in favour of the newer model, maybe a 182 or a 191. Just wondering what people think mine is worth, I'm going to try the private sale route initially.
It's an automatic, black car with black edition pack, full leather, 80000kms or 50000 miles, bodywork perfect, no issues with it, imported into Ireland at 3 months old back in 2014 and I'm the second Irish owner. 2.0 litre diesel.

Going by my own advice I often give a car halves in value every 3 years so I believe this is somewhere in the ballpark of a 60k list price car here when new so at 6 years old I feel its probably a quarter of its original value at 15k or 5th thereabouts. Very few available at that mileage so wondering if it might be worth more than that in anyone's opinion

I accept private sales at this price point are tricky

Unfortunately selling a car privately will always drive the price down as the majority want to buy from a dealer to get a warranty etc.
If your car was a unusual or special model then then it would help but there are a hell of a lot of Black S line Audi A 6’s around.
See what a dealer is asking for a similar one and take about €2000 of that price.

Agreed. Think the low mileage might stand to me as that's the only unusual thing about it.

Calculate how much it would cost to import the exact same car from the UK including the new Nox tax. That is what you are competing against with a private sale these days.

Is it an Ultra model? This makes a big difference to the value, most 141s aren't.

No, it isnt its the 177 bhp pre facelift

Had a look on donedeal theres nothing really under 20k for a sub 100k kms 2014 A6 on there for sale on Irish plates at the moment. Small sample size though, maybe 10 cars

More like 7/8 k off it ! U need cash buyer all private sales even on done deal are very slow , and at big discount!
People are not fools with Uk market available!

Cheapest on autotrader.co.uk under 100k kms with S Line and black pack is £12,500 which is €14,600 and VRT is coming in at just a shade over €3,000

So its €17,600 plus travel expenses of say €500, although that is for an ultra car which another poster thinks might be worth more to a knowledgeable buyer.

Does the VRT calculator include NOX tax or is that separate? How much would the NOX charge be on such a car if its not included?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,363 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

VRT calculator doesn't include NOX charge. There is another thread dedicated here to the NOX charge so it might have chatter about how to calculate it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 544 ✭✭✭SBPhoto

    NOX rating on the new A6 C8 is 42 so 42 x€5 = €210

Let me try understand the above, dealers advertising for €20k, so you are saying sell for €12/€13k? Even though it will cost €18k to import the same model?

As usual crazy and inflammatory advice from you which is best ignored

Normally private sales tend to make 15-20% less than a dealer, so taking 20k as dealer rate, I'd reckon around 17,500 is a good starting point, and hopefully get 16.5-17?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,924 ✭✭✭Large bottle small glass

OP the NOx charge might help you as your identical car from UK might have a high enough NOx charge.

Put a UK reg of a similar car and plug into cartell.ie to get NOx charge.

I was doing it last night for 14/15 V70 and it varies a lot from 150-2500 depending on EURO5 or 6 and car specification

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,053 ✭✭✭Casati

You see a lot of higher mileage more basic A6’s go for stupid cheap money - 11/12k for 2014’s, but yours should be worth maybe 17k/18k out the door with a dealer or maybe 15k private with no warranty.
I see a low mileage SE asking 14500 and all asking prices are negotiable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,288 ✭✭✭millington

Forgot about comparing to a UK import now with the NoX levy. You need to look at whats for sale here.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/audi-a6-auto-black-edition-ultra-2014/23814550

Slightly higher mileage than yours but still acceptable for the age. It's in a dealer & it's an Ultra model. I honestly think 15k is where yours should be as a private sale.

Its a Black Edition as opposed to being just black which is pretty rare.. Plenty of fake ones on DD with replica wheels...

That has twice the mileage. Mine has 50000 miles. 80000kms. But still I reckon you're not a million miles away with 15k but I think a little higher.

I’d say now is actually a really good time to sell your car. A lot of people will be put off importing at the minute as they are not yet educated about the nox charge and just see it as the end of importing. I even saw a recent poster who was about to import an Audi but now they can’t. And yours being a 2014 I calculated the nox charge at over €2000.

Black Edition...is it even darker black?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,531 ✭✭✭Car99

Your car has a euro 5 engine , euro 6 engine was added in late 2014 on paper a much less polluting engine and also the A6 got a facelift late 2014 . In a few years time Euro 5 engines will be very hard to sell as the motor tax increases on them . If I was looking for a 2014 A6 I'd want the facelift with the euro 6 engine. The lack of euro 6 and being a pre facelift would probably push down the value of yours a bit too in today's market.

Is your car S Tronic or Multitronic?

Black Editions come with black exterior trim from the factory, 20" wheels, Bose sound system & black interior accents. They can be any paint colour.

    Not sure if it helps.
I'm about to trade a 2014 black s-line(75000km) with fake black ed wheels.

One garage offered me 17000, another 17500 for trades
Ended up going for a trade for 16k(trade price) as I'm doing as well as I can on the car that I'm buying(garage bringing in a car from the UK for me,)

Had a lot of time wasters on dondeal/adverts etc offering 13/14k etc. No concrete offers, just the usual.

He said he advertised it !
And what is he being offered-13/14 k there’s ur crazy advice !
Either he wants to sell it or marry it !
It’s a buyers market although if he waits , might just find a guy that will fall fr it as it sounds like a nice car !

Why in gods earth would I buy private if I’m not going to get a bargain ! I follow a lot of cars on done deal from private sales and if there not a knock down price , u will see they there for full 60 days !

Extras are 50% depreciation first year and full depreciation after that ! U never get it back for the extras or least very little especially selling private!
The dealer may get something when he sells it out but certainly won’t allow u on the trade in of it !

Yes but they are much more desirable I spent months looking for one and ended up going to the UK for the one I wanted!

OP here, I never said I advertised it at all. I haven't been offered a penny for it either. Don't know where you got any of your info but it certainly wasn't from anything I've written. Your postings across all forums I've seen you on is bizzare to say the least.

If he has the 177 it's a multitronic. The S-Tronic came with the Ultra changeover in late 2014.

I'll possibly think of moving mine on later this year too. The newer model is growing on me despite reservations about the look at the rear.

The c8? I've no reservations about it at all. Although no nicer on the outside, very similar really. I'm thinking of an avant for my next car now. Although I really don't know what to do

Yeah, the C8. Notice a few of them knocking around these days and they look good alright. Probably wait till next year to see if I can get fleeced buying a 2 year old one....

Sat into one recently and agreed, the interior is superb. Maybe the best of it's class right now. If I had the funds, a new A6 3.0 TFSI would be my dream car.

It's the full leather. I use CarPlay for all my navigation and music so haven't used MMI much but it's a nice place to be.

I'm coming from a C7 and its quite the step up even though I loved that car.

I'm coming from a C7 and its quite the step up even though I loved that car.

I did drive one and its quite the leap forward with the interior tech. The salesman quite obviously kept telling me it was a much better driving car and better built but I didn't think it was, it felt the same to me, which is fine. So no step up in driving but my god the tech is great. Extremely impressive cabin and dashboard.

Funny enough he offered me 25k for my car which is the subject of this thread against a brand new A6 S Line with the tech pack and 1 or 2 options I said I'd like I can't even remember what they were but the list price was 60k.

So it was 35k to change I'd say realistically he was offering me 20k but he had the 5k to play around with.

I think when I can change into a c8 that I like for somewhere under 20k I will make the jump.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,401 ✭✭✭Nonoperational

Yeah the drive is very similar. The c7 is still a cracking car, it's just a little dated interior wise.

How is the driver footwell/pedal set up in the C8? Real Achilles heel in the C7. I wouldn't consider the C8 if it was not significantly improved over the C7.

Is the mileage that unusually low? Still almost 15k kms a year.

It's one of those things that most dont notice but some do. The accelerator pedal is off to the far right and set kinda forward plus theres an ingress into the drivers footwell from the transmission tunnel that limits space. It's due to the conversion from LHD.

Most dont notice it but I'm one of the people who do and it causes me discomfort. It's the only thing I dont like about the C7.

In something like an A6 it is about half the average looking at what's for sale at 5 to 6 years old.

Just checked there, there's 109 Audi A6 from 2014 for sale on donedeal.
Just 9 have 80000kms or less.
So I guess that yeah it's pretty low.
I'm putting about 20k kms a year on it so should stay in the lower end for a while yet

Havent noticed any dislike myself, I'll take notice in the morning. I find it very comfortable ergonomically
