Fibre Broadband or Not & becoming a customer.

We had eir/eircom Broadband from 2007 until 2018.
In 2018 we became a sky customer. They called out installed a new line so we'd have fibre broadband. I didn't really notice a great improvement in speed.
Now, the person who is paying the bill is stopping and I'm putting it into my name.
Now, According to the Eir website it says our house can only receive 100mb broadband and there's no mention of fibre.
I was told be people once they put in a fibre line. You've to stay with fibre. So, I am a little lost with this.
    Any advice regarding this.

Also, the person who was paying the bill has cancelled the phone line attached to our family home. So, I'll have to get a new account number, etc. Will I be charged for this.

    Sorry if this is confusing.

VDSL (fibre) is only "up to" 100Mb/s depending on your distance from the cabinet/exchange. You don't get a fibre line, it stays as the copper pair you have always used. The fibre goes to the cabinet only.

    Thanks for that.
    Just to note
In 2018 a guy from KN group fitted a new cable from the pole outside our into our house and he said this was the fibre line.

That's promising, did they mention if it was for Siro? Do you have a pic of the termination point at the house?
