I got a call from a neighbour looking for 50 bales of silage. I know what I'd like to get but I don't want to charge anymore than what they're making. Cheers.

They cost €25 minimum when nutrients removal is taken into account.
Selling bales any less is subsidising the buyer. You need €27 minimum with buyer collecting and loading.
I know it doesn’t work out that way in reality, but .......

Looking at those prices I'm glad I traded my bales in for a freezer full of beef ðŸ˜

If I add up all expenses of producing a bale from the local contractor dropped in the yard it comes to
Exactly 20.5 euros. Fusion bales with tedding.
So anything over say the 20 is what you're getting for the actual grass.
At 10 bales @ acre , selling @ 25 a bale you are getting only 50 euros an acre for 1st cut. Which is sh*t. But that's the price of them. And is it any wonder really seeing as cattle are being killed under the cost of production.

Just looking at done deal there and there's ok looking bales and even haylage for 15 euros. You'd wonder what some people are at?
