    Hi all,
    We've decided on a 4 night break to Barcelona Apr 8 - 12.

When in cities, we like to stay in private rooms in hostels as they're quite sociable.

I had a very quick look on hostelworld.com and prices seem quite high (€100 - €150 per night) - I assumed you'd get a hotel for that price.

I've done damn all research so far, but if anyone has a recommendation for hostel with private room, or a no-nonsense hotel in a good location (close to nightlife etc. - so presuming close to Ramblas?) then please do feel free to share.

Ideally, we're looking to spend no more than €100 per night. (We're treating this as a cheap and cheerful break, rather than luxury getaway)

    Cheers.

    Hi,
I'd definitely recommend Violeta Boutique Hotel stayed there 3 times now dead central easy to get to via train and metro from the airport close to las ramblas, Mercado de La Boqueria etc. Staff are friendly, the rooms are absolutely spotless beds are incredibly comfortable and a small breakfast is provided evrey morning down in a small room beside the reception, I'd recommend getting one of the rooms facing into the courtyard as the exterior rooms can be a bit noisy at night.

Thanks. Even scaling back a week Apr 1 - 5 (to avoid Easter), hotels are quite expensive for what we're looking for.

We've decided to go to Porto instead.
