Toyota Avensis 2006 boot lock

    Any ideas why sometimes the boot wont open on this car?

    Click the fob lights flash to signal locks are unlocked go to open the boot sometimes it opens fine other times it wont ,when you press the latch on boot lid you can here the lock sound but its stuck shut is it an nct fail as you can open it manually with the key.

    Is there anything i can check i assume its down to age as the car is 14years old and has nearly 300k km up on it

    Just checked Colm it requires a bit of force to turn the key but it does open it every time.

    It should be very easy to turn the key.

    I’d guess there’s an issue with the latch on the boot door.

    Quick update sprayed the lock with a load of wd40 opened and closed it a couple of dozen times appears to be fine since.

    Hopefully it keeps going for a while
