Can I trust my manager ?

I posted this a while ago on an old account that I cant remember the password too so thought I would update the situation

Basically I went for an interview within my company for another position which had more hours and more money, interview went well, my supervisor at the time had put me off the roster as he presumed I had the other job as I was given a start date (18th of Nov).
I took a weeks holidays after leaving my old position before starting my new position.
While on holiday my manager rang me to say that the job fell through and I was no longer being transferred there.
My manager offered me another position, less money and same hours, I didn't have much of a choice so I accepted. I went for the interview for that position, again, it went well. Two days after the interview my manager rang me again to inform me that they found someone else for the job the day before my interview and offered me other position for even less money. As it was so close to Christmas I didn't really have a choice.

Something didn't sit right with me about the original position I had the interview for so I rang the supervisor I had the interview with and asked him what the story was, he explained that they were taking on a new floor but the lease fell through so they didn't need to take on any staff at the time but the lease was going through in January so the job will be there in January and that he would definitely let me know when it becomes available.
I said this to the manager and he didn't seem impressed that I was speaking with the supervisor about this.
Just before Christmas he came into me to say that the position was "confirmed" and that I would be starting in January.
I texted him yesterday to see if there was any update on a start date and he replied to say that they are struggling to find relief for my position which doesn't sound too promising to me.

I'd love to get some input on this situation and to see if there's any steps I can take myself.
I am thinking of asking the manager for a new contract for this new position but I have a feeling he will say no and to be honest it seems that he doesn't want me to have this position as he has been very stand offish about it.

Would really appreciate a bit of advice.
    Thanks in advance folks
