    Hi,

Anyone have a rough idea how much replacement of alternator of 2011 1.6 focus would be? dreaded battery light came on earlier and just noticed a whine from the general area of alternator so suspect it could be on it way out.

All depends if you go for new or second-hand or maybe it alternator can fix . You could just go on micksgarage see the price of a new alternator and add around 60 euro to fit it in garage it will give you a rough estimate that would cost for new one fitted

You could try doing the work yourself.

Ta fairly simple in them just disconnect the battery off with the alternator belt and the bolts then the connections and bring her down to the owl auto electricians prob be 100 quid or so and bang it back on prob be another 100 quid if you get a garage to do it

It's not too bad of a DIY job, (I did one on a 2008 1.8tdci facelift model). It's fiddly and a bit infuriating but very doable. If the 2011 is similar then it's easily doable in 2hrs or less.
