Parking fine appeal

Just checking if there's any recourse here.

Paid for parking via the Apcoa app in Kildare. I incorrectly and accidentally put the registration as 161 instead of 162. Rest of the reg was correct. It was quite obviously a typo. Nonetheless, I was fined and I appealed to Apcoa stating I did pay and it was a simple typo. This was rejected.

Do I have any further recourse? Perhaps directly with KCC. It was quite obviously a mistake and not an attempt not pay

im not trying to be a smart arse but how they would see it is that you didnt have a valid ticket and thats why you were fined.

AFAIK they will say pay it then appeal it afterwards

ive seen similar instances and people were refunded half on appeal

Think you can appeal to the NTA.

It would not be difficult for the app to bring up the car details and the customer to confirm that the vehicle details are correct.

I'd appeal as its a simple error - and maybe also suggest to them the above

the parking tag site does this

the app lets you save the car details for future use

I understand precisely why I was fined as technically yes you don't have a valid parking tag. That being said, it was quite obviously a mistake and you'd have to hope we'd be sticking to the spirit of the law rather than to letter of law as it were. There was a genuine attempt to pay

Read this and appeal, you've nothing to lose.

I appealed a clamping to DCC, I'd paid via the parking tag app but had let it expire before paying again and during the gap I'd been clamped. So I was clamped correctly but I was refunded on appeal.

in a fair world, your appeal should succeed.

A timely article in today's UK Times. Seems a sensible approach, as sure as eggs is eggs it won't be adopted here.
