We got a hard/firm sealy posturepedic from Big Mickey about 3 years ago.

    Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

It's quite safe to Google and if you're as lucky as we were you'll find a nice Sealy for less than half the price of HN.

Showroom/warehouse is in Longford but they'll deliver. Well worth a trip to save a few hundred €€€.

No connection other than as a previous customer (3 double beds, 1 single). There's a Big Mickey rep that post on boards occasionally.

Have you tried Nectar memory foam mattress?? I think it could be a good choice. If you are looking hard mattress for back pain then you can also consider Sleepeezee Backcare Pocket Mattress.

Are either of those recommendations available in Ireland?

    Hi crxsi09

You won't have to. I've just found you. If you still need a mattress we have a model called the 2 in 1. No memory foam in it. One side is rock hard like the floor and the other side is a bit softer. I used one of these myself about 3 years ago when I was taking care of my parents for some time and got on very well with it. I used the softer side. Very popular with bad backs and hip replacements. Our local chiropractor even has one and he has sent out several customers to get one.

    Thanks

I would be in the market myself for a very firm mattress, but once you mentioned this, alarm bells went off.

Have had experience of a 'chiropractor' myself and they aren't qualified medical people, and my opinion would be equally as valid as theirs.

    What brand is this 2-in-1?

    Hi Niman

The core comes from Kaymed in Naas. The only thing added after that is the cover of choice. Normally a tencel fabric. We have sold hundreds of these mattresses over the years without issue. Many guys off boards would also have got them so there may be comments on some of the other threads that are running for 10 years or more on boards.ie at this stage.

    Thanks

    Hi Niman,

You are correct , it's not currently showing on the site. Our web staff are off until Monday next so I can get that sorted when they return. The 2 in 1 is 549 euro. We have it on display in our showroom if you want to call or if you pm us your details I can see if we have any deliveries going near you and we can take one to you for a look.

    Thanks

I suffered with a bad back for years despite having a good quality orthopaedic mattress. I tried a memory foam one and haven’t looked back. It made a huge difference.

May I make a suggestion in relation to your wife's bad back........ditch the mattress entirely and sleep on the floor. I know that sounds crazy but let me tell you sleeping on the floor works miracles when it comes to back issues. I had my own problems in that area and after doing some research I found that a lot of people where recommending sleeping on the floor. So I gave it a go and it worked. Within one week my back was better, within 2 weeks it was brand new. Its most definitely worth a shot and will save you the cost of a new mattress aswell.

Can vouch for Big Mickey here also, I had 3 discectomy procedures and needed something firm for my bad back and me and my then partner went down to him and got a great mattress that suited the 2 of us, must have lay on about 20 of them until we found the right one...

Worth the trip down to him from Dublin....

The 2 in 1 would not be far off that firmness but more comfortable.

    @bigmickey

Is the 2-in-1 one of those mattresses that are split in the middle and each half can be rotated?

So one person can have firm and the other person really firm?

Or is it one full side firm, other full side really firm?

    Hi Niman

One complete side rock hard and the other side a bit softer. It is a heavy enough mattress also.
