    Hi all.
Just wondering if anyone would know if 90 minutes is long enough to make a connection in Istanbul airport?
The flight is with Turkish Airlines from Dublin to Tashkent.
    Thanks!

I had a 90min layover in istanbul 2 weeks ago, the arriving flight was on time, took about half an hr to walk between gates, no issues. The terminal is bloody massive though.

There were a few in my flight that had tighter connections, the turkish staff had them off first and onto golf carts to ferry them to gates fastet.

Make sure you have all you needs in a carry-on, your checked baggage may be delayed even if you make it.

Went through Istanbul on route to dubai a few years ago. Had to go through security again, seemed like thousands of people at 3am and only a few gates open, was a nightmare.

It's a different airport now, though, isn't it? Or are some airlines still using the old one?

Not sure, this was Christmas 2017.

That'll have been the old one, then. IIRC the move was a bit of mess but AFAIK the new one opened this year (as much of it as has been completed) and all of Turkish Airlines' operations are handled there.

New airport opened this year. Atatürk airport is only used for cargo flights now. You don't have to go through security again.

I went through Istanbul airport at the end of November. It's huge, but very well laid-out, and no internal security check. 90 minutes should be fine - your biggest worry will be whether the first flight leaves Dublin on time; that flight often leaves a bit late, in my experience

I had a 2 hour connection last Sunday and it was fine but its a long and brisk walk. There was a separate security near the gates for flights within 90 minutes. They checked my boarding pass but turned me away.

My return on Tuesday is a 1hr layover so wish me luck :pac:

My experience last year in ataturk was awful and if it wasn't for the fact that this is a new airport then I wouldn't have gone with Turkish again.

Do ye have any idea how this is organised?

Not feeling very confident about making my connection tomorrow. Today's flight took off 90mins late

Should be fine. Based on experience, you don't need to go through security when transferring from a Dublin flight.

90 minutes should be grand. I often connect in the new airport with 70 minutes connection time and never missed it.

You'll be grand. I've never been the last one boarding or had to rush. Just head straight to the next gate. If it's very tight often they'll be someone waiting with a buggy but I've never needed that.

    Feeling much better now!

Take off time is almost irrelevant due to padding - it’s probably 45 mins late at most landing.

I had a 90 min connection there and it was fine, stopped for a sandwich and all - huge airport. Taxiing when you land can take up to 25 minutes.

Missed connections cost airlines big money - they wouldn’t sell it if it caused issues regularly.

The people in question had told the flight attendants about their tight connection, they had them up the front to disembark after the biz passengers. We were off shortly after and saw the buggies taking off and other runnings.
Is your connecting flight part of the same booking? Usually they are even more lenient if that is the case

Everything went fine. The taxi time at the airport is a pain in the behind though. 15 mins we were taxi-ing. There was staff when we got off the plane to tell us where our connecting gates were. Power walked from the B gates to the A gates and had enough time for a pee and a snack before getting on the shuttle bus 10 minutes later.

Glad everything went well. Connected through IST last month. Place is huge but had a sense if calmness about it.

30 min walk to the lounge... almost an hour of walking in total. Only got an hour in the lounge. Will have 8 hours on the return journey though!
