What advice would you give yourself now over a decade ago?

Pretty basic question, but what advice would you give yourself now over a decade ago?

What do you consider obviously true now compared to 10-years ago in what you thought you believed you knew?

10 years ago, you and I were just as certain in what we believed as what we believe now. But things have changed. What changed for you?

    Me?

Quite simply, that you should never assume that you are always right. If you do, you will prove yourself wrong more than you prove other people wrong.

Save more, ride more and enjoy life more and always follow a dream such as having a nice car and a motorbike.....

    I'm working on both.

Oh and get the fluck out of the job I'm doing now...

A boring job that pays well is better than a stressful job that pays poorly. More responsibility for career purposes doesn't always make for a happier and quality life. The grass isn't always greener.

The saying 'hard work pays off'....it's bollocks, certainly when it comes to an office anyway.

Hard work gets you more work, if you are identified as someone who gets through work and does it well, you just get given more in place of clowns sitting around you that at best might be managed out, or more likely to be pushed from pillar to post as nobody has the balls to actually sack them.

Just because someone posts statements that are facts it doesn't mean they're conclusions are true. Nuance and context are absolutely key in determining the truth behind the numbers. That and bias check everything you read.

Trust yourself and your feelings, dont let people walk on you, you actually have power and control and you can tell people to f*ck off, you dont have to put up with sh!t from anyone.
The career path you chose will be harder to reach than you think for reasons outside your control, consider a different course and dont go to 'that' town just because you know people going there.
Dont rely on family or friends, they wont be the support you think they will, dont expect it from them and just get on with things, you cant force people to care.
    Save, you'll need it.

You eventually find out who your real friends are.

    Don't dare undervalue yourself.

Have more kids. Having tasted at both the dubious and more respectful troughs of life, their isn't much to beat kids.

Just would've had more, had I got my head out of my ass earlier.

Be more aware of people taking an interest in you. If you don't, you could miss the best chance of your life.

Ha, I said the same last night to a girl.
Didnt tell her I loved her but how I felt..
Still got me nowhere, but like you said if I never said anything I would always be thinking..

I could say live and learn, not in my case !

Stay in school/college. Education is a ticket to freedom. Get as much as you can.

Travel as much as you can. Backpack alone if you have to. Live in another country for at least a year.

If you like someone, tell them.

Pick up a hobbie and continue at it.

Keep in contact with old friends. Reach out to new people for friendship too.

Loosen up, enjoy yourself, laugh and don't take yourself too seriously.

Haven't voted for Fianna Fail in the past 10 years.

But Fine Gael are definitely on the shouldn't have done it list.

Money actually is more important than a job you enjoy. It's already too late, but don't bother with the public sector. Get out now, you're wasting your life for a pension. When it comes to the domestic violence, you will have to help yourself because this country believes in waiting until a mentally ill abuser actually kills you before offering any support. It will take a close call for you to see there's no real help available - it's never going to get any better. It's a lost cause.
