    You're not making sense.

Public transport doesnt need to be aligned to a designated route. Private hire coaches can use'em too.

. A lot more pedestrianisation in Dublin City Centre.
. ANPR cameras in Dublin Bus to catch the buggers clogging up the bus lanes constantly.
. Removal of on street parking on the Dublin Quays.
. Removal of Free parking for CS and PS (Wood Quay, I'm looking at you!)
. Just generally would like PT to get a look in along with cyclists and pedestrians. Cars can
    feck right off already.
. Happy New Year of hope.

    Not telling ya ;)

Anyway North and South Quays are great arteries in and out and should be smooth and quick for PT surely? Easily done if the will was there WRT enforcement of the bus lanes. South Quays seem to be better than the North for bus lanes somehow.

North quays have more roads that feed off it. South quays have more roads that lead onto it. The issue there is the varying routing of the one way systems around the city.

Gonna go selfishly cork centric, docklands to balincolig brt line, ( it's only 20 ish years away (apparently)

An n40 orbital route ... Yeah right ...

Upgraded city buses and improved bus routes that actually give a ****e about punctuality
    ,
    Legalise electric scooters ......

Mallow to midleton commuter trains with like stations and stuff and maybe make it a bit quicker too ,it's 30 mins to do 12 miles on a newish straight track with one level crossing going into Kent and 3 level crossings at midleton ( don't bother going to youghal ,but maybe continue beyond midleton and link to the n25 for a midleton East Park and ride and station .... ( New track and land required )

A transport interchange with park and ride at dunkettle ,linking bus, train ,n40 orbital ,( and a bus routes link to glanmire to for the crack )

Oh and much more frequent/faster cork Dublin trains,(cheaper would be nice too...)

Thats for a start ...without hitting the multibillion motorways .

It's like more about filling up the two local rags with hopeful articles about a Luas for Cork rather than getting anything done.
How the Jaysus did they plan and build urban tramways in less than half that time over 100 years ago when they had to go through Acts of Parliament and all they had were shovels and wheelbarrows? It's pathetic.

In Cork, have the existing buses actually show up reliably. Half the time thhey either don't show at all or are wildly at variance to the laughably inaccurate "real time" app.

Would also support the introduction of measures to eliminate taxis from critical bus lanes. Just because you have a psv licence does not mean that there is some god given right to use the bus lane. Do cyclists have psv licences?

We already have contra-flow bus lanes which ban taxis and they work extremely well in my experience (see Camden St).

An underground rail station or two in the city from the maynooth line.

Dunleer is another station that should be reopened I think.

    Irish Rail Kildare Line.

Bring the DART down to Sallins and Naas.

Close Sallins and Naas Station and develop a new much larger station at the new Sallins bypass with Park and Ride facilities. Take the huge and ever growing pressure off Sallins.

This is more than obvious to any urban planner but the current government isn’t interested in providing public transport, increasing capacity, or moving people out of their cars.

I hope to see multiple DART lines, more Luas lines, and at least 3 metro lines to bring the city up to the bear minimum of European standards and allow for the mass transit of individuals around the city. We should go further and plan ahead but PT is so neglected at this stage that I’d settle for anything. Just start building... anything.

I don’t want to have to be sitting on the M50 and N7 in 2030. I’m not spending 6 and a half days sitting on buses in congested streets that weren’t designed for traffic, nevermind bus lanes or mass transit.

I'd like to the the Rosslare to Connolly route double tracked and electrified. It's a badly needed upgrade for that route and I think a much better use of money than upgrading the N11.

I'd also like to see more frequent and later trains. Just an example but the last train leaving Connolly that goes beyond Greystones is at 18.30 which is much too early.

I do share this sentiment as well. Electrification is probably the easiest part of this proposal given that it would merely be a continuation of the wiring from Greystones south-wards. However, the double-tracking would be a mammoth undertaking due to the myriad of challenges between Bray and Rosslare. The most obvious challenge is Bray Head as the track was routed via the cliffy seaward side instead of the less exposed western side. I've outlined some of the other limitations in the post here.

    Scrap NTA as it stands.
Scrap CIE and replace it and the NTA with a body that understands and regulates public transport and not give in to the car lobby
    DART Underground fully implemented.
Extend DART to Dublin Airport from Clongriffin.
Stop and start all InterCity rail journeys to and from Dublin Airport.
Triple track from Clongriffin to Connolly.
    M3 Parkway to Navan extension.
DART extension to Maynooth and Kildare.
    Double track Portarlington to Galway
Run rail services around the clock, train and recruit sufficient staff to run these services.
    Encourage rail freight
New North-South rail spine from Cork to Derry via limerick, Galway, Tuam, Sligo
    Midleton-Youghal reopened
    Shannon Airport extension
Expand Connolly to be Central Transport terminal for Dublin.
Bus services to be repurposed to feed rail connections.

Double track Portarlington to Galway is a no brainer, even Portarlington to Athlone would be good to see..

Cost wouldn’t be too high, project could probably done using mainly existing IE resources and the would benefit journey times and reliability on both the Galway and Westport lines..

As a plus, it would also help with promoting railfreight also. Running times would be reduced for trains to the west, more paths/capacity, and longer trains(21 plus wagons) would be possible

Don’t know why this project gets next to no mention or support, the people of the west pushing for the WRC phase 2 would be better served pushing double track Port to Athlone.

For Kerry I want that Millstreet Station be given a second platform to thus utilise the passing loop there, this would reduce delays considerably.

The current Killarney station should be closed to end the 10-15mins of wasted time whilst the train reverses in and out of the station, move it 200-300 metres further down towards Mallow direction and there is plenty space.

There should be a 2 car IE-2600 or IE-2800 DMU car set meeting the 9pm ex Heuston-Cork service at Mallow at 23:05 providing a link to Tralee, the 7pm last service for Kerry is far too early.

Aer Lingus removed from the Kerry PSO Air-route and give it back to Ryanair who had you in Dublin for €9.99 in 20 mins, €48 one way for an hours journey with Aer Lingus doesn't cut the mustard compared to Irish Rail. Its only useful for a connecting flight to the US with aer lingus.

The completion of the Macroom and proposed Adare, NewcastleWest and Abbeyfealse Bypasses will lead to increased connectivity to the county also.

that would be a good shout actually. i can't see it happening however.

i suspect that is not going to happen due to the expence and the fact the station would be further from the town.
i agree the situation is not ideal but the line is likely going to be stuck with it.

certainly a later service would be a good thing. again though, i can't see it happening.

i suspect that would only be possible if.
    1. ryanair put in a better bid when the service is up for tennder again.
    2. the current operator are found to be breaching the rules of their contract and the service is retendered and ryanair put in a better bid.

shut down alcohol action ireland now! end MUP today!
