Kuhn gmd mower stuck

    Hi all.
I raised my above disc mower (gmd 24) into its vertical position(all the way), and now it will not move back down. It was moving up and down until I went full vertical.
It does seem to jerk when I push lever down but nothing else.
The release is pulled away, so it's not that.
I swapped tractor hydraulics around and am pretty sure not that.
The bar that attaches to hydraulic ram is dead straight with hinged lower bar. My guess is the force is just going straight through both bars.
If anyone has any experience of this problem please

Does your mower go beyond vertical in road position? Our Lely does and needs double acting spool to lower

I've seen a ram on side mounted topper refuse to work. Would jerk when spool valve was pulled but no more. There was a valve mounted on the ram that was activated by the high oil flow from the tractor. Is there any control knob in cab or on valve block that you can adjust to slow down the oil flow?

There is a nut at the joint where hose enters ram on my mower, it controls drop rate of mower. Too tight and mower won't lower too loose and mower drops too quickly. It's not a Kuhn though.

While not being familiar with the gmd i think the most like cause is the hydraulic coupling has jammed shut on the mower side someway.

Start eliminating things. Chain block the mower bed into a safe position, uncouple the ram and see if that moves freely. Then report back.

Have a gmd 66 myself and i know if I try lower mower from the vertical position on level ground my tractor hasn't enough hydraulic pressure to throw her down horizontal.

so just have to have tractor on even slightly fallen ground and no bother down then.
Just a thought it may be this.

Have gmd 600 and will not lower sometimes. Have to find a slope and it lowers then. It needs a bit of incline to start the loering process

Is the tractor a massey by any chance.
We used to have a 3650 at silage. If we tipped the trailer all the way up it would lock the hydraulic fitting on the trailer side.
The only way to drop the trailer was to disconnect the hose and let some of the pressure off

I have a gmd 600 myself, with sods law I had the very same problem today.

So I put the tractor on a slope with the mower facing downhill and the mower goes down.
    Tis a handy place here..:pac:

Sat behind a silage harvester on the road for a few mins yesterday, was having similar thoughts

So I got the mower lowered.
I Think As a couple of people mentioned, it is the lack of power in the hydraulics.
The tractor is a Massey 4255. I didn't have a slope to try and help it down, but I did tie a rope and pull it while someone else lowered the lever.
    Done the trick alright.

My excuse is I never took it off the tractor since I bought it a few months ago.
As I had nowhere proper to really put it and then the tractor was draining the battery. You know yourself.. Place finally had to be made something half decent looking for Christmas.
