    Why are so many charolais calves born mid summer.

    I was always thought a June calf was a weak calf.

    Why specifically Charlois calves? Dates can slip, due to the length the bull is left with them, I'm guilty of that myself, but not down to the breed, more to do with the management of the herd itself.

    One explanation may be, as was explained at a KT farm visit, where the breeding was totally Ai. All the early and repeat heats were inseminated with LM, and any on the third round were CH. They said that CH calf with its higher DLWG easily caught up with the earlier born LM calves.
