4 post lift price?

    Hi all,

I'm currently looking to buy a 4 post lift. I've been offered a 4000kg AGM lift that was installed in 2007. The owner of the lift unfortunately passed away in 2012 and the lift has seen little use since (I've used it on a few occasions) and it appears to work well once the locks get oiled and freed off. The family have asked me to come up with a price and I want to make sure I pay them fairly for it. I haven't seen another one like it advertised for sale and the prices of the ones advertised are all over the place. It cost 4k new. I'd have to remove and transport it myself. I was thinking about €1500. Does this seem right?

    Thanks,
    Dave

I would have thought around 1000 would be a fair price. I got few year old 4 tonne 2 post few years ago for 800. Any particular reason you want a 4 post lift?

With all the work that is involved on your part in removing it, along with lack of certification, and the risk involved in taking on a piece of equipment that might kill somebody, I suggest you offer to take that liability off their hands for free.

    Agreed less than a €1000

Thanks for your input! Understood about the whole certification issue. It would be useless for a commercial user. I've used this particular lift myself, and while access isn't as good as a 2 post, I feel safer under it. Also, some of the stuff I'd be lifting may not leave the ground at all if lifted under the sills!! Also, because I'm familiar with it I know what I'm getting. I just wanted to be sure that whatever I offered I wouldn't have someone telling me I took the p*** out of the sellers given the circumstances. I'd rather over pay slightly than under pay.

    Regards,
    Dave

We bought a brand new Pacini 4 ton 2 post lift a few mo this back. €2.5k including VAT and installation. For that process I wouldn't bother messing around with second hand lifts. Bought ours off Irish Garage Equipment, they install nationwide.
