Irish people and the UK election / Brexit

    After Labours obliteration last night I observed many Irish people on social media and message boards go into absolute meltdown. Comments like "kip of country" and "I hope they get ruined" were commonplace last night

    I understand there may be implications for us here but the vitriol aimed at the UK and its majority of people that have now given a strong mandate for brexit seems unwarranted and borderline xenophobic.

    Why?
