    Hi everybody.

This evening, about 17.30 my dash cam caught a white focus rear ending a saab on the roundabout at the Oscar Traynor Road. Couldnt pull in as I had two little ones in the car both with ear infections.

So just on the off chance it was somebody from around here or somebody you know, I can send the video on.

Could be it was reported to the Guarda. Give your local station a call, could be doing someone a good service.

Why would someone need a video for a rear end collision? The following car is always responsible and its difficult to do a runner when you are stuck in the back of a car.

The other people in the video have a right to privacy under GPDR.

Not in all cases. Brake testing someone on dashcam being an example, among others.

Technically, the following car should leave enough space to stop even in the case of a brake test....

Or when you have some dopey halfwit cut in front of you before getting properly past.

Yea a rear end collision is a no contest really

I wouldn't waste your own time OP

It's not so clear cut. If it's a relatively minor prang the car behind might say they were reversed into and to prove the opposite.

I've rear ended a few cars but they pulled across lanes and brake checked.....

Didn't end so good for the A5 which became an A3.

I wasn't found at fault as CCTV on the vehicle showed what the other driver done

Of course they should, but brake test the next Garda car you see, tell him that he should have kept his distance, and report back to us.

Rarely, if ever, are things as black and white as people like to make out they are.

Won't be posting it here and aware of the usual consensus of the car in back being in the wrong however the gentleman who rear ended the other car appeared to think otherwise so thought it may help somebody clear up any ambiguities around it.

Call Coolock Garda station. Let them know you have dash cam footage.
They will tell you where to send it.

    Don't delete it.
The video may act as an independent witness which you rarely get nowadays because nobody stops anymore, they always have somewhere else to be.
