Why do people ask silly questions here?

...and on other forms of media also - FB being a notable example.

I just read one along the lines of:-

"How can I get bank statements from XYZ bank in a hurry?".

    Another from FB:-

"When is ABC club issuing their membership packs?".

The answers are blindingly obvious - ask XYZ Bank or ABC club directly.

I'm still puzzled when anyone asks "Any updates on the match or what channel is the game on?". Well you are online already so why not look it up yourself?

Some people don’t understand corporate speak or terms or conditions. If a layperson could just give them an answer rather than telling them to google it (wasting even more internet) that’d be great.

Even if the answer was wrong (if well intended)?

Just as many stupid questions are asked offline.

Walking up to somebody at a bus stop and asking "Has the bus come yet?"

Ah that can be if you were cutting it close to the edge timewise or if a few busses service the same stop.

Answer: I just missed one but another leaves 5 mins after it so we should get that.

Answer: the 15 has just gone but I'm waiting on the 17.

    So not a totally stupid q's :)

You're assuming a Dublin situation. It's a very dumb question here in the sticks, where there one bus every three hours at best. ;)

I used to have a shop on a busy main road with a bus stop close by. People used to actually get thick with me if I couldn't tell them if the bus had come yet or not

Laziness plays a huge part in people asking stupid questions.
Why would they bother with having to research a topic and doing google searches when they can fire off a stupid question and have other people do the donkey work for them.
If they strike gold they might even get an enabler answering them and providing them with an old linky.
The lazy love a good linky they do.

"Yeah, it just left. I didn't like the look of the driver so I'm waiting for the next one in three hours."

    Perfectly good question! ;)
