Anyone doing Portuguese for LC? My daughters father is Portuguese so she is thinking of doing it. She speaks very little Portuguese at the moment but she has a few years before LC. Is it difficult? Is it aimed at people fluent in it? Thanks for any tips or advice.

Didn't do it for LC but can't imagine anyone could have a better natural advantage than having a Portuguese father?!

Yes it is aimed at native speakers, but with a fluent speaker at home she should make good progress.

Do you mean she speaks very little Portuguese as in she rarely practises it, or she doesn't know it? She might be better off doing Spanish as, as said above, it is aimed at native speakers and there is little margin for error as it is marked out of just 100 marks.

Ancient Greek, Arabic, French, German, Hebrew Studies, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and Russian are the LC language subjects designed for non-native speakers. She would find LC Portuguese difficult, especially as a non-native speaker, unless she became a near native/native speaker by the start of 5th year.
