Tried to start my 2014 Subaru XV diesel this morning.

It cranks for 2 seconds and stops. Won't start.

Any ideas? Was running fine yesterday.

It cranks strong from the battery, the engine doesn't fire and the cranking stops after two seconds?

Does it do exactly to the same every time?

Battery was fine, but a booster pack did help and allowed it to start but it idled rough as a badgers arse.

Drove it a couple of miles and it lost all power at one point. Then it ran perfectly fine again. It's done the same on occasion for the mrs but I never experienced it and didn't realise how severe it was.

Thought it was an injector problem but rang my mechanic (on a saturday!) and he reckons it could be fuel starvation from a blocked filter as injectors prob wouldn't be intermittent like that and also only 40+k miles on it. Gonna drop it to him on Monday for a look.
