Looking for smartwatch as a Christmas present.

Looking for features such as automatic sport activity detection.

Anyone used this watch? On amazon it has good reviews. It's available for 209 pounds.

I have one for about 10 months now and just purchased another one for the wife.

I find it very good especially for the price.

The screen isn't as good as somthing like the galaxy watches, as you can see the pixels but I downloaded a new watch face as it looks far better than the standard one.

The battery is great on it, even for running using the gps I'm getting five days out of it.

    The size is really nice.

It does not have sounds, as in beeps for speed training etc, but has very good vibration

Has loads of sports options and you can also create your own.

Thanks for the in depth feedback.

Good to see it has a great battery life. Do you have Music version?

Does it automatically pick up different sports activity like cycling or running? Or do we need to set manually before starting the activity?

I have the music version but I never use music when training so haven't tried that out.

I don't think it automatically picks up different sports.

You select the sport before you do it. I'll check and see for you.

Just checked and states it has auto activity function

    https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=vV8trfTjiF9f3X9ninHZR8&productID=571520&tab=topics

I went in and I have the available options to enable auto start

    That's superb.

Looks like I will get this watch. I will visit the store locally just to see the screen pixel quality.

Pixel quality is "ok" if you want a really sweet screen you would need to go for the higher end garmins or samsung watches.

If you do get it, I recommend these twp watch faces, "no frills" and "rings pro" you can install them from the connect IQ app

Yea max budget is around 240€
I will think about it in the next few days. Considering the Music version of Vivoactive 3.

I will definitely look into these watch faces.

I have an android Samsung phone and don't really use a laptop. Is everything easily linked with an android mobile phone?

Yep, you just download the garmin connect app amd thats it. Connects via bluetooth. The app is pretty good, loads of stats on it and you can set targets, connect with friends all that stuff.

    Hey everyone,
Decided to go for Vivoactive 4. Seen it on hands in Harvey Norman and liked it.
Any suggestion where could I get the best price for Vivoactive 4?

Just giving you the price. I don't have it!

Another option is seeing if you can get the 3 music on a deal or if you don't need the music the 3 without it is cheap now

    Oh thank you.

I have seen 3 with and without music version in Harvey Norman. And did comparison with vivoactive 4. I felt alot of health features are missing in 3, but indeed the price of 3 is very attractive.

It can identify some activities automatically, like walking, running, cycling. But it wait a period of time before tracking it. By default it's 10 minutes.

    What about elliptical training?

When you are using a machine, you'll need to tell it what you are doing.

Ok, thought it may be automatic too like walking, running.

Display isn't great, but happy with battery performance and health tracking.

It uses an accelerometer to guess you are running, walking or cycling, because you are moving. On a machine, you are sedentary.

Yep display isn't the best but a change of watch face can improve this

Hi. Have been watching this thread as I’m looking at the V3 and V4 as well

Would appreciate if you could tell me if it’s possible to have a running screen with time, distance and hr zone showing in the one screen. Is the zone a 1-5 number or colour or both?

    Thanks

    William

    Hello,

I am not into running. But I do indoor epilleptical training and cycling. It shows your heart rate, total time and calories burnt on the screen.
Bettery life is good. Although I am not playing songs through my vivoactive 3 music.
If you want a better screen quality, then check Garmin Venu.
No major difference between 3 and 4 in terms of the onboard sensors.
