Could someone please explain the way it works with transferring from 30 day sim only Eir to GoMo ? Say my old EIR billing date 16th of month and I port over on 15th Dec without giving notice. Will I be charged for Jan? I’m aware that by moving to GoMo mid month, I get charged for full month - best time to port over to them is start of month-
Just trying to work out how I can avoid double charges? I’m confused.

If you port on the 1st, eir will refund you the partial month up to your next billing date. So you pay in advance, from the 15th of each month say 20 a month. Port on the 1st, your final bill will be 10 euros in credit

Do you know if I need to give notice to Eir when I am on a 30 day rolling contract ? Will porting number cancel my account?

    Dont contact Eir.

Open GoMo account / Order sim
    Schedule port to GoMo
    Once ported Eir account closes
Final bill issued from Eir with credit balance

As above. Just order the GoMo sim and port when you receive it.
Eir will issue a final account.

Thanks. I understood that I had to give 30 days notice in order to avoid extra monthly charge. That’s great so..

That is a common misconception that the mobile operators like you to have. In reality per regulations they are not allowed to charge you for periods you don't use (they can charge a fee for exiting handset contracts). In essence a 30 day contract is no contract at all.

They are also not allowed to stop you porting which is initiated with the new operator. Therefore you never need to speak with them when leaving.
