I am would like to know the laws regarding an Irish citizen, working for a UK based company with which I pay tax in the UK currently.
I will be going Offshore for a 3 on 3 off rotation.
I would like to know if I am exempt on paying Tax on my earnings as it's offshore?
I have worked in the middle East and was exempt from paying tax here as I was a non resident.

I'm not familiar with offshore taxation but any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Im not sure if its relevant. Slightly different but I've a friend working on commercial shipping vessels (could be on any route in the world depends where he is needed). 3 months on 3 months off family live in ireland and he lives here here during the time off and he doesn't pay a cent of tax on his (large) salary.

If he's not paying PRSI then he'll never get the state contributory pension! :D

Also, down the road, his kids may have a problem qualifying for things like SUSI grants!

I suspect anybody under 40 won’t get that when it’s their turn
