    Hi,

Currently trying to get the answer from Vodafone but was wondering if anyone had any experience regarding unlocking phones from vodafone. So my wife went and upgraded her phone with vodafone yesterday with the intention of keeping her old phone and giving our daughter her upgrade as an xmas present. I only found out last night and had to break it to her that our daughter is on a different network and the phone would be locked to vodafone. Does anyone know how long a phone would have to be used before it could be unlocked?

it's a little bit unclear on vodafones website and I'm waiting for a call back...below is taken from the vodafone website.

As a Bill pay customer, you must meet the below requirements to be eligible to receive an unlock code.

Your Vodafone account must be paid up to date.
Your phone was purchased from Vodafone Ireland.
The associated Mobile number must have been used with the handset that is being requested to be unlocked.
You have connected to bill pay for at least 12 months or have spent €200 on your account.
The associated Mobile number must have been used with the handset that is being requested to be unlocked.
You have not requested three or more unlock codes in the past 12 months and not requested one in the past 3 months.

    A year normally.

If your wife is a long term Vodafone customer and explains the situation they may go ahead and do it early.
