    Hi guys,

Looking for opinions here,i started work with the council two weeks ago as a general operative and so far i have not been assigned a particular crew to work with or job to do.

I turn up for work in one of two depots (they decide)and i am then told to just go with some guy and thats, it,i have no role and when im in the depots because im not assigned to a crew iv not idea of the procedure iv to follow no locker to store my gear.

I am just being passed around and its demoralising ,i have another job in the offering at the moment which is better money and the work is similar and the location is nearer to me and im considering taken up the offer.

How ever my dilemma is the council job is permanent while the other job is temporary with a chance it could be permanent and im split between staying in the secure council job which is pissing me off or go to the other job which is similar but maybe only temporary.

Would love to hear some opinions on this.

    thanks

You're there two weeks, still doing induction. Of course you haven't been assigned to anything proper yet.

How old are you? Do you have family to support? What's more important to you: permanent or nicer conditions?

At age 50, I'd take permanent, at age 25, I'd take the best career development.

I work for a semi state co. and it happens here regular, i reckon the foremen or supervisors dont really know what to with yet until an obvious position comes up. My advice would be to hang in, before you know you will be with a gang . Permanet pensionable jobs are not that easy to come by and when the economy takes a downturn at least your job is safe. Dont feel demoralised because the staff around ya will no the score and know theres nothing you can do.
