A week in Porto is a long time without travelling out of the city for a bit. Besides the usual port tasting, cellar tours, walking across the bridge, etc... I'd go for a day trip up the Douro Valley and get in some wine tasting.

Would agree with Ponster that a week is a long time in Porto, you would see most things in 2 days, 3 max so do consider day trips outside it. Am just back from there a couple of weeks ago and its a beautiful city but wouldnt have enough to occupy you for a full week. We did two nights in Porto and then 3 days in Lisbon whcih is only 3 hours by train, approx 50 euro return and would well be worth a trip for a coupe of nights at least if you havent been there before. We flew into Porto with Ryanair and back to Dublin from Lisbon with TAP Air

Yeah, as Muahahaha said you can easily get around by train and Lisbon is just down the road Coimbra is only an hour away, Lisbon 3 on very modern trains.

Another day trip well worth doing from Porto is Guimarães. It's very accessible by train and not too far away.

It has a lovely old town that you can wander around and the ruins of a castle. There's also a cable car to the top of a hill where there are lovely views and you can ramble around between giant moss covered boulders! We had great fun there :) It also felt quieter and less touristy than Porto, which I liked.

You'll be bored by Wednesday. Rent a car or get a train to see some small towns outside of Porto
