    Altior vs Cyrname.

Looking forward to watching this one.

I'm ashamed to say I only got the meaning behind Cyrname this morning.

I can't look past Cyrname's last run at Ascot, it was frightening. I really fancy him to beat Altior.

Hopefully this will be like when people thought Sanctuire would be Sprinter Sacre and he was well beaten, nothing better than seeing exceptional legendary horses keep on winning and proving people wrong.

Bristol De Mai is my biggest bet in a long time. On at 5/4.

Different class especially around Haydock and any ground will do for him. 3rd in Gold Cup let's not forget that too.

    Bring home the gravy Daryl

Can't see Gowran going ahead, reported as heavy already and inspection at 8am. If the weathers as bad down there as it has been in Dublin since lunchtime no way it will go ahead.

Two great clashes tomorrow in Altior & Cyrname and Bristol De Mai & Lostintranslation. Personally think Altior and Bristol will win, Lostintranslation had his reappearance already which may bode well for him.

Hopefully Gowran gets the go ahead tomorrow.

With all the good stuff happening at Ascot and Haydock don't forget to watch the beginners chase at Gowran. Two former festival winners are out at 2.45. Laurina and the beast that is Minello indo. It should be a great race. In the same race don't take your eye off The Gunner Murphy, he was always built for chasing and while he mightn't be winning tomorrow he will be a big handicap horse in the future. In saying all that there will be worse ew shots at 33/1 to have a few bob on.

Cant have cyrname, altior will win easily,
The way cyrname runs will allow altior to look even more impressive.
Altior is the quickest horse over 2 miles so cyrname shouldn't pose much of a problem in the speed department, all he has to do is lob along in behind and pounce in the straight, sounds easy so hopefully all gos to plan and no hard luck stories.

Never liked Bristol de mai and taught lostintranslation was excellent last time so im going with him.

Worried that sky and PP have boosted Altior and BDM in a double.

99% of the time that means one will lose

Cyrname won't beat Altior don't be daft.

On his first Ascot win in January he beat a field of handicappers like Doitforthevillage and Mister Whitaker, albeit impressively but that form is no where near good enough to beat Altior. Just under 4 weeks later Cyrname returned to Ascot ( same trip) and won well. His official rating was increased to 176. In two races he had gone from officially being Altior’s inferior to the amount of 25lbs, to being 1lb superior to him. The turnaround took him 28 days. How did he achieve this? Complete fluke if you ask me.

The handicapper should be ashamed for rating him higher than one of the best chasers in recent times

Acca of Altior, BDM, Laurina and Getabird for me.
Pym could be a good shout in Ascot also

Apparently they’re very fond of The Gunner Murphy in Joseph’s but I heard that last year as well. Was talking to a girl who rides him out down there at the sales last week at Tatts and she seemed excited by him anyway. Should make a lovely chaser, was still very raw and green last year. We’ve still got the dam River Finn.

Cyrname is soft as **** and will get broken tomorrow by the beast.

This is basically everything anyone needs to know. Cyrname looks overhyped, that might not stop him being competitive, but 1 months racing did never a horse make.

I don't think Paul Nicholls is exactly on fire either. I have seen him have more prolific seasons. He is not getting an awful lot of winners by his standards. It is worth noting Cyrname has not won first time out before either.

In saying all that I couldn't be having Altior at 1/2 either.

Only financial investment for me today is Knocknanuss in the 3:20. Some exciting races today.

He stood out to me last night as a well treated horse but the more I look at it there seems to be a lot of horses looking for the lead and it could be worth looking for a closer in that race.

I’ve seen way worse 11/4 shots, not that I’d need money for interest but still took a little piece of it .

I see that also that School Boy Hours runs in the same beginners chase, he is no mug either. It is going to be a cracking race.

I am having a fiver on Frodon at Haydock. He is a little money winning machine and he owes me nothing. He is € 34 to a € 1 level stake betting. 11 chase wins from 23 starts. I think Bristol De Mai will probably win but he is no price. Frodon at the prices.

    Ascot
    12.20 Vinnie Dev 8/1
    3.20 Knocknanuss 11/2
    Haydock
    2.25 Eight and Bob 16/1 , Mega Yeats 33/1
    Gowran
2.45 The Gunner Murphy , School boy Hours . Reverse Forecast :D:P:)

I was very impressed with Castlebrooks first run over fences. Much stiffer task today but has a race under his belt so will be fitter than most. The runner up in that race cranked the form lto.
    7/4 W/O 2pts
    11/2 win 1pt

    throwing a 5er away on

    Easywork 12.25 - 1st
    Altior 14.05 2nd
    Getabird 14.10
    Lauruna 14.45
    Bristol De Mai 15.00

I don't particularly like the horse as he usually flattered to deceive for often than not over hurdles. But I thought Pyms first go over fences was very promising and he looked a natural. Small win bet at 3/1

Pretty good round of jumping again. Went very slightly left at 1 or 2. He is a nice prospect but a bit quirky so maybe one to take on if very short nto.

Wow! That last jump stopped any fight back for Altior.

Honestly fair play to them for giving it a go.

    I am shocked anyway.

That is the end of Altior for the King George now. Pity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,107 ✭✭✭HarshOstrich

It wasn't really a classic but i feel altior will improve more for the run, ground perhaps blunted his speed because he never looked like picking up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 96 ✭✭Margate

Certain cyrname won't win the king George

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 680 ✭✭✭lemush

Confidence behind Altior in the market tells you how well he must've been working. All credit to Cyrname.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 109 ✭✭Riquelme

Thought it was silly how many people were writing off Cyrname for this. Altior looked like he'd have been beaten over 2m today. Not sure what to make of the run to be honest.

Hold my hands up. Couldn't have got it more wrong. Thought Altior was a cert

Altior looked goosed 5f out and cyrname still doesn't pull away, the gold Cup will stay in Ireland next march

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47 WicklowBravee

Altior stayed every yard. He loses ground at every fence. They should still go for the King George.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,974 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

Stoney Mountain out of nowhere! Pin point run by O'Brien. 700/1 in running they're saying.

He won’t . Probably back to ascot fir the grade 1 he won last year.

Will definitely go imo. His keen going kink seems to have been sorted and he jumped straight as a dye today so they can get his tendency to go right sorted too if they don't have it sorted already.

    Why doesn't he?

Quality start to his open company career.

At Haydock on their first in open company? No I haven't.

LIT is a proper monster. All his form checks out. To say he has no chance in a GC is the purest form of bollix in my opinion.
