Ep3 Honda Civic won't start after engine clean - help needed

So I cleaned my engine bay over the weekend and though that I avoided and electrical parts that may be damaged by water getting on them. I removed the battery before the clean and right after I finished the car started no problem. It had been sitting for a few days and now won't start. I tried unplugging all of the electrical connections and drying them with a heat gun but no luck. When I turn on the car is briefly starts to turn over before dying. The second time I try is won't turn over at all. Any help on what this might be would be appreciated. Thanks.

I wonder did removing the battery cause an issue or is the battery drained? I know it started afterwards (always take it for a drive straight away and get the engine warmed up to evaporate any water) but that could be an issue.

    Try to jumpstart it.

Try connecting the battery correctly or jumping it. It sounds like the starter is not turning fast enough to start the car.

I know I actually read that afterwards and raging I didn't do it now. I'll try jump it after work and hopefully that will do the job! Thanks.

I double checked the battery connections and they're fine but I'll try jump it and hopefully that will do the job. Strangely I got a starter fitted last week as the old one was knackered. I'll check that the earth on the new starter is connected properly and clean too! Thanks.

You may have to leave the batteries connected for several minutes before jumping, to give the old battery some initial juice.

I charged the battery this morning and it started no problem. A simple fix that I overlooked thinking I'd done something wrong while cleaning the bay. Thanks for the help much appreciated!

Great to see you got sorted and that it wasn't a major issue.

Enjoy your clean engine bay :D

Cheers. I did a good bit of touch up work to the bay. I might make a separate thread to show the progress but here's a sneak peak :D

Looking good but get rid of the cable ties first.

Thanks. I know I still have a lot of work to do. The previous owner lost a lot of clips/bolts etc so I have ordered new ones already! :)
